Being ‘evergreen’ is not a sign that a plant is more cold tolerant. On the right, Iris foetidissima ‘Variegate’ zn6a a plant of Mediterranean origin is tolerant of drought and sun-shade; in the middle is Choysia ternate ‘Sundance’ zn 7 from Mexico, part sun even moisture; in the foreground is Astelia nivicola ‘Red Gem’ zn 8a from New Zealand light shade, even moisture.
