This shows several things: the intermediate structure of this hybrid cross of a Littaea parent with a Ditepalea Agave; how flowering progresses up the stem moving from the staminate/male period, with extended anthers to the pistilate/female period when the stamens have collapse and the styles are extended and erect and downward to the stage when the styles have collapsed and the flower begin to disintegrate. This picture was taken an even two weeks after the first flowers were opening (those first umbels were removed. One of which is pictured at the top of this posting.)
