Both of these shots are of the ‘bowl’ area as well. In this closeup you can see that the turf grass is actually the weedy Poa annua, with its little ‘boat shaped tips at the end of each blade. This forms a very short and shallow rooted turf. It is common throughout Parks often occurring on compacted sites. After the summer events this area was mostly bare soil that was top seeded with Lolium perenne.
