This first group of photos come from some of the perimeter beds. Olives, Romneya, Carex…with the deciduous punctuation points provided by the tall arcing culms and ‘flowers’ of the deciduous Stipa gigantea. From my experience, due to the extent of weed ‘penetration’ in our modern landscapes it is difficult to have a successful one that is primarily deciduous…even though those of the historic past were….We have to remember that the ‘weed pressure’ on our original landscape was essentially non-existent.
