Ceanothus, Sphaeralcea, Allium, various grasses…and, is that a golden Phlomis I see? A visually successful meadow planting is all about the interplay of fine textures, movement, subtle colors that blend and warm moving into fall providing a field for pops of color. Periodic burning of meadows helps rejuvenate them. In urbanized areas, where fire is strictly limited, we have to play some kind of role in limiting the building of organic matter. It is not known how this will effect the long term health and development of a meadow over the years.
