This almond orchard is fading from the landscape and will one day be gone as its requirements are ultimately incompatible with the conditions here. Exotics are not always invasive, in fact they rarely are such. Like most plants exotics still have their basic requirements. Invasive plants often ‘tag along’ with us, with our livestock, as contaminants in seed or on our equipment as we move from place to place modifying the landscape to meet our needs. It is our actions that make the successful introduction of invasives possible.
