Angelica pachycarpa, its dense umbelliferous inflorescence placing it in the Apiaceae, or carrot family, falls within the Apiales order in the Rosid group. Its individual flowers are quite small. A biennial, it does not flower in its first year and then dies upon ripening its seed.
