Echium wildpretii is probably my favorite biennial. Unfortunately many of the showiest of the genus aren’t reliably hardy here. This is a favorite shot from several years ago when the adjacent Trachycarpus’ foliage cut across the similarly shaped Echium foliage. This one is endemic to the islands Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands. A member of the Boraginaceae, Boraginales within the Asterids.
