Epimedium grandiflorum ‘Lilafee’ is a member of the Barberry family and order Ranunculalaes which form one of their own branches within the assortment of genera called Basal Eudicots. Such plants can exhibit ‘ancestral lineages’ and not fit strictly within the Crown Eudicots. So the Epimedium, Berberis and Mahonia among other genera including the more distant related Buttercups share the triclopinate pollen, but are somewhat removed from Eudicots. These have 4-parted flowers, sepals, petals and stamen.
