Dioon spinulosum. The fronds are hard and sharply pointed reminiscent of primitive fronds from early ‘trees’ formed from megaphylls which were themselves derived from woody stem tissue. ‘Looking’ much like a modern fern Dioon are members of the Cycadaceae and as such are Gymnosperms.
