Mimulus aurantiacus ‘Jeff’s Tangerine’ IMG_5952.jpg Phrymaceae Lamiales Asterids

Mimulus aurantiacus ‘Jeff’s Tangerine’. I love this California endemic. This genus is one of which considerable research has been done that paint a somewhat inconclusive picture. It is paraphyletic, containing several distinct and unshared ‘lines’. This species, M. aurantiacus, appears to be a progenitor species, one from which other species have arisen.
