This is the juniper that was highlighted above. In some cases, such as this one, this tree is included, even though it is standing dead because of its size and probable use as a wildlife tree, particularly for nesting birds. There are other occasional exceptions to the minimum DBH rule. The rock is piled several feet up on the trunk it’s roots down below.
