This Cercis canadensis survives its partner that declined, broke and was removed a few years ago. It’s about 12″ dbh and has suffered a few branch failures/tear downs itself each with a long scar left on the trunk. All of the main branches, including the two failures are/were within a foot and a half of each other along the trunk weakening the structure. The two verticals, top center share a long joint of included bark. The branch to the left also has a weak angle of attachment with a long ridge running down demarcating it. One branch was removed in the center more recently after having been broken by a truck. Were all of these major branches spread out more up the trunk the tree would be stronger.
