This is the new field at Dunaway Park. For years this was a grass turf field, heavily used and abused, the turf crew did their best. Its poor drainage made this even more difficult, the top level saturating making it very difficult to mow. This site served as one of Portland’s first ‘dumps’. Marquam Creek flows enclosed in a pipe many feet below the surface. Under Armour moved into the revamped YMCA facility to the south and partnered with the City to install a new track and artificial sports turf, doing what now grass turf could ever do.
