This rock column at Smith Rock is known as Monkey Face and is very well known by expert climbers. Here we’re looking NW with Juniper Butte in the background to the right and Mt. Jefferson on the horizon to the left. On Monkey Face itself you can see a horizontal fracture line near the top where a roped in climber is standing. Many climbers cross from the ‘horn’ to the left on a rope to concentrate on the top portion of the climb while others climb from the base well out of our view.
