Western Serviceberry, Amelanchier alnifolia, is found frequently in Ponderosa forest and all of the way across the Cascades into the Willamette Valley where it grows with much more vigor to small tree size. This is another important species for native fruit eating birds. Here in the Willamette Valley Cedar Waxwings are currently feasting on our Serviceberry.
