
the rolling ascending hills leading up to the Caliente Range. The road to the far left is the acesss to a still operating ranch operation, there are several on the Monument. You can see the patchy pattern made of sclerophyllous shrubs, no doubt indicative of the soils immediately below them. These include the Saltbush, Artemisia, bushy Senecio and the common Californian Salvia leucophyllya, all different species than you would find on our similar looking Columbia Plateau lands.
