Quercus turbinella Grey oak, Shrub live oak

Quercus turbinella Grey oak, Shrub live oak. Not very common in California, the population in the Mojave has been assigned to a different species, this is more common as a desert species into Arizona and north into southern Colorado. A shrubby species this one may have gotten to 8′-10′ high. This was actually the only plant of this we saw, though we did not hike into the hills that much.
