Arid cllmates like that of the lower Deschutes River support spring flowering, taking advantage of soil moisture that declines quickly as the summer season takes hold encouraging plants with triggers and thresholds that allow them to respond to these patterns, conserving their living tissues which respond to appropriate cues in order to replenish themselves when they can.
