Cornaceae Cornus florida – flowering dogwood: Leaves, opposite, simple, characteristic venation arching back towards leaf center, netted between primary veins.

A typical Cornus leaf that may confuse some. Parallel secondary veins, not unlike those in Hosta, but with finer netting in-between them suggesting that this is indeed a Dicot.
