This is my Mexican Silver Oak, Quercus hypoleucoides, growing in my Redmond backyard. This is its fourth year in the ground, so it has survived 4 winters and is working its way through its 4th summer. Oaks as a group are relatively slow to establish, spending their first few years establishing their root systems with minimal to moderate top growth. It is currently around 7′ tall.
