These Oaks survive the tough, dry and windy conditions that prevail here east of Mt. Hood, from the foothills above the Wamic area, east in the Columbia Gorge and south into the gulleys, canyon’s and ravines of the Deschutes River and the Warm Springs Reservation and north into Washington’s Yakima area. They are often found in mixed open woodlands associated with Ponderosa Pine.
